Sports Injury Treatment at Quantum Chiropractic
Medically reviewed by Dr. Jaycob Holohan, D.C.
Dr. Holohan works with athletes as a regular part of his practice and looks at how you move, not just where it hurts.
Strains, sprains and overuse injuries come with training hard. Living with them does not have to.
Misalignment from repetitive motion or a single bad landing slows recovery and raises the odds of re-injuring the same thing. Dr. Holohan works regularly with athletes, and we treat the injury in the context of how you actually move.

Common Causes of Sports Injuries
- Overuse. Repetitive motion without enough recovery.
- Acute impact. A tackle, collision or bad landing.
- Improper form. Technique loading joints in ways they are not built for.
- Inadequate warm-up. Going hard on cold tissue.
- Existing misalignment. A small imbalance becoming a real injury under load.
- Incomplete recovery. Returning to full training too early.
Symptoms Related to Sports Injuries

- Swelling or reduced range of motion
- Weakness in the affected area
- Pain returning each time you resume training
- Compensating movement patterns
- Stiffness lingering well after the session

What to Expect From Treatment
The first visit looks at the injury and at how you move, because the thing that hurts is often not the thing that caused it. We take a history of the sport and the training load, examine alignment and mechanics, and take X-rays where the findings call for them.
Most athletes notice improvement in mobility early, with strength and confidence typically returning more gradually. Care usually starts more frequent and reduces as the joint stabilises, with rehabilitative exercises carrying more of the load as you return to training. We reassess at each stage, so the plan adapts to how you are progressing rather than running as a fixed package.
Our Scope and When We Refer Out
Chiropractic care is not the right answer to everything, and we do not pretend otherwise. The assessment is what decides whether this practice can help you. If it points somewhere else, we tell you and we refer you out. We would rather send you to the right person than keep you on our schedule.
If you are unsure whether something needs urgent attention, speak to a physician first.
Common Questions About Sports Injuries
When can I get back to training?
- That depends on the injury and how you respond to care, not on a calendar. We would rather stage your return than clear you early and see you back with the same problem. Most athletes return in phases, with load added as mechanics hold up.
Should I rest it or keep moving?
- Usually some of both, and the balance depends on what the examination finds. Complete rest tends to cost mobility, while pushing through tends to cost more time later. We give you a specific answer for your injury rather than a general rule.
Can you help with an old injury that never healed right?
- Often, yes. Old injuries commonly leave behind altered mechanics and compensation patterns that keep causing trouble long after the original damage settled. The evaluation tells us whether what remains is something chiropractic care and rehabilitative exercises can address.
