Chiropractic X-Rays in Burleson

Medically reviewed by Dr. Jaycob Holohan, D.C.

Imaging is taken on site when findings call for it, so the technique we choose is based on the alignment we can see rather than an assumption.

Guessing at what a spine is doing is a poor way to plan treatment. X-rays let us see the structure — alignment, spacing between vertebrae, degenerative change, old injuries that never quite resolved.

The National Library of Medicine has a plain-language overview of spinal imaging if you want the clinical background.

Why We Take X-Rays

An examination tells us how you move and where it hurts. Imaging tells us why. Together they turn a reasonable guess into an actual plan.

X-rays also tell us what *not* to do. Certain findings change which technique is appropriate, and occasionally they tell us that chiropractic care is not the right answer and you need a referral instead. We would rather know that on day one.

What X-Rays Show Us

  • Spinal alignment and the degree of any misalignment
  • Disc spacing, which points to compression or degeneration
  • Degenerative joint changes and arthritic change
  • Previous injury that healed out of position
  • Structural anomalies that change the treatment approach

Are X-Rays Always Needed?

No. We image when the assessment indicates it, not as an automatic step for every patient.

What to Expect From Treatment

X-rays are taken on site at the practice when the examination findings call for them. The images take only a few minutes and there is nothing to prepare for beyond removing metal from the area being imaged.

We review the images with you and explain what they show in plain language, including what is normal. Findings shape the care plan, which is typically more frequent at the start and spaces out as alignment holds. Imaging is repeated only when there is a clinical reason, never on a schedule, and the plan adapts as you respond rather than running as a fixed package.

Our Scope and When We Refer Out

Chiropractic care is not the right answer to everything, and we do not pretend otherwise. The assessment is what decides whether this practice can help you. If it points somewhere else, we tell you and we refer you out. We would rather send you to the right person than keep you on our schedule.

If you are unsure whether something needs urgent attention, speak to a physician first.

Common Questions About X-Rays

Do I need X-rays to be treated here?

Not always. Imaging is taken when the examination findings call for a clearer view of your structure or alignment before care begins. If it is not needed, we do not take it, and we explain the reasoning either way.

Will you explain what the images show?

Yes. We go through the images with you in plain language, point out what we found and what looks normal, and connect it to the care plan we are recommending. You should leave understanding what your own spine looks like.

Can I bring imaging from another provider?

Yes, and it is worth doing. Recent imaging from another provider often means you do not need new films taken. Bring the images or the report with you to your first visit and we will review them as part of the evaluation.
