Medically reviewed by Dr. Jaycob Holohan, D.C.

Dr. Holohan adjusts using Activator, Diversified, Soft Tissue and Prone Specific, which spans both firm and low-force approaches.

Your spine sits at the centre of how your whole body functions. When it is misaligned it interferes with how you move, how your nervous system communicates, and often how you feel day to day, in ways that are easy to blame on something else.

At Quantum Chiropractic we provide precise, individualized chiropractic adjustments in Burleson to restore proper alignment, relieve pressure and support your body's ability to heal.

How Do Chiropractic Adjustments Work?

A chiropractic adjustment is a controlled, precise movement applied to specific joints in the spine. The goal is to correct misalignment, improve joint mobility and reduce interference on the nervous system.

What that looks like depends on you. Our doctors assess your alignment, range of motion and where your symptoms originate before choosing a technique.

The Techniques We Use

  • Activator — instrument-assisted adjusting delivering a controlled, gentle impulse, used by Dr. Holohan
  • Diversified — the classic manual adjustment, adaptable across the whole spine, used by Dr. Holohan
  • Soft Tissue — muscle and fascia work alongside the adjustment, used by Dr. Holohan
  • Prone Specific — targeted adjusting with you lying face down, used by both doctors
  • NUCCA — a precise upper cervical approach using minimal force, one of Dr. Bloom's specialties
  • Toggle-Recoil — a quick, specific upper cervical technique, used by Dr. Bloom

Having six techniques between two doctors means the adjustment gets matched to your body and your comfort level rather than everyone receiving the same thing.

What to Expect at Your Visit

  1. 1

Consultation and exam. We assess spinal health, posture, range of motion and where the discomfort is coming from.

  2. 2

Imaging if indicated. X-Rays on-site when we need to see the structure.

  3. 3

Tailored adjustment. We select the technique that fits your assessment, from manual work to gentle instrument-assisted care.

  4. 4

Rehabilitative exercises. Adjustments restore position; exercise helps you hold it.

  5. 5

Progress tracking. If ongoing care makes sense we build a plan and adjust it as you improve.

What to Expect From Treatment

The first visit is an evaluation before any adjusting happens. We take a history, check alignment and range of motion, and take X-rays where the findings call for them. If care is appropriate, we explain which technique we would use and why before we use it.

Most patients feel a difference in mobility early, with lasting change typically taking longer because holding a correction is slower work than making one. Visits usually start more frequent and space out as your alignment holds, with rehabilitative exercises added along the way. We reassess as we go, so the plan adapts rather than running as a fixed package.

Our Scope and When We Refer Out

Chiropractic care is not the right answer to everything, and we do not pretend otherwise. The assessment is what decides whether this practice can help you. If it points somewhere else, we tell you and we refer you out. We would rather send you to the right person than keep you on our schedule.

If you are unsure whether something needs urgent attention, speak to a physician first.

Common Questions About Chiropractic Adjustments

Does an adjustment hurt?

Most patients describe it as quick pressure followed by relief rather than pain. If an area is already irritable it can feel tender, which is one reason low-force techniques like Activator and NUCCA exist. Tell us what you are feeling and the approach is adjusted.

What is the popping sound?

It is gas releasing from the fluid inside the joint as it moves, not bones cracking. The sound is harmless and it is not a measure of whether the adjustment worked. Several of the techniques we use produce no sound at all.

How often will I need to come in?

Typically more often at the start, then less as your alignment holds. The frequency comes out of your examination findings and how you respond, not from a set schedule. We reassess as care progresses and reduce visits as soon as it makes sense.
