Back Pain Relief at Quantum Chiropractic
Medically reviewed by Dr. Zachary Bloom, D.C.
Dr. Bloom came to chiropractic after a spinal injury during his own military service. He has been the patient as well as the doctor.
Back pain is the most common reason patients walk through our door in Burleson. Whether it is a dull ache that follows you through the workday or something sharp enough to stop you mid-step, it makes work, sleep, exercise and ordinary life harder than they need to be.
We take a hands-on, individualized approach: drug-free care aimed at correcting the underlying issue rather than quieting the symptom.

Common Causes of Back Pain
- Poor posture. Slouching or long stretches of sitting straining the spine.
- Muscle strain. Overuse, heavy lifting or a sudden wrong movement.
- Spinal misalignment. Vertebrae out of position, surrounding muscles compensating.
- Herniated or bulging discs. Displaced discs pressing on nearby nerves.
- Sciatic nerve compression. Back pain radiating into the hip or leg.
- Degenerative changes. Wear over time producing inflammation and stiffness.
- Injury. Trauma from a fall, collision or athletic impact.
Symptoms Related to Back Pain
- Dull, aching pain in the lower or upper back
- Sharp pain that worsens with movement
- Stiffness and reduced flexibility
- Pain radiating down the leg
- Muscle tightness or spasms
- Difficulty standing straight or rising from sitting
Ignoring back pain tends to turn an acute problem into a chronic one.
How We Treat Back Pain
- Chiropractic Adjustments — restoring alignment to relieve pressure at the source
- Spinal Decompression — lumbar decompression where disc compression is driving it
- X-Rays — to see whether disc spacing or degeneration is part of the picture
- Rehabilitative exercises to help you hold the correction
- Auto Accident Injury — if your back pain started after a collision
- Prenatal Chiropractic Care — if pregnancy is contributing
- Closely related: Sciatica
The National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases has a plain-language overview of back pain if you want the clinical background.
What to Expect From Treatment
The first visit is an evaluation of your history, posture, movement and where the pain actually originates, which is not always where you feel it. X-rays are taken when the findings call for them. If care is appropriate, we explain what we found and what we would do about it before starting.
Most patients notice some relief in the first week or two of care. Typically the early phase is more frequent, then visits space out as the spine stabilises and rehabilitative exercises take over more of the work. We reassess throughout, so the plan adapts to how you are responding rather than running as a fixed package.
Our Scope and When We Refer Out
Chiropractic care is not the right answer to everything, and we do not pretend otherwise. The assessment is what decides whether this practice can help you. If it points somewhere else, we tell you and we refer you out. We would rather send you to the right person than keep you on our schedule.
If you are unsure whether something needs urgent attention, speak to a physician first.
Common Questions About Back Pain
How long until I feel better?
- Most patients notice some improvement within the first week or two, though how fast that happens depends on how long the problem has been building. Holding the improvement usually takes longer than getting it. We reassess as care progresses rather than promising a timeframe.
Do I need an X-ray for back pain?
- Not always. X-rays are taken when the examination findings call for a clearer view of alignment or structure before care begins. If imaging is not needed, we do not take it. Either way we explain what we found and why.
Is it safe if I have a disc problem?
- Often, yes, and lumbar decompression is frequently the better fit than a manual adjustment in those cases. The evaluation determines the approach. If your findings put the problem outside what we treat, we tell you and refer you to the right provider.
