Prenatal Chiropractic Care in Burleson

Medically reviewed by Dr. Jaycob Holohan, D.C.

Dr. Holohan works with expectant mothers and infants regularly, and adapts technique by trimester.

Pregnancy changes your body faster than almost anything else will. Your centre of gravity shifts, your posture compensates, and the pressure on your spine and pelvis changes month to month. Low back pain, hip discomfort and pelvic misalignment are common results, and none of them are something you simply have to put up with.

Dr. Jaycob Holohan works regularly with expectant mothers and infants, and prenatal care here is gentle, individualized and adapted to where you actually are in your pregnancy.

The National Library of Medicine has a plain-language overview of musculoskeletal changes in pregnancy if you want the clinical background.

How Prenatal Chiropractic Care Works

Prenatal adjustments are gentler and more targeted than standard adjustments, with positioning and pressure adapted to your stage and comfort. What is appropriate in the first trimester differs from the third, both because your body has changed and because comfort matters more as you progress.

The focus is maintaining pelvic balance and spinal alignment, which supports your body through the physical demands pregnancy places on it.

Benefits of Prenatal Chiropractic Care

  • Relief from low back and hip discomfort as your centre of gravity shifts
  • Support for pelvic alignment through every trimester
  • Reduced strain on the spine from postural change
  • Gentle, drug-free care appropriate throughout pregnancy
  • Adjustments that adapt as your body changes

What to Expect From Treatment

The first visit covers where you are in the pregnancy, what is uncomfortable and how you are moving and sleeping. Positioning and support are set up before anything else so there is no pressure on the abdomen. X-rays are not used during pregnancy.

Most patients notice pelvic and low back comfort improving within the first few visits. Typically care continues at a comfortable rhythm as the pregnancy progresses, with technique shifting toward lower-force options later on. The plan is reviewed at each visit and adapts to how you are feeling rather than running as a fixed package.

Our Scope and When We Refer Out

Prenatal chiropractic care works alongside your obstetric care and never replaces it. Your OB or midwife leads, and any pregnancy concern goes to them first.

Chiropractic care is not the right answer to everything, and we do not pretend otherwise. The assessment is what decides whether this practice can help you. If it points somewhere else, we tell you and we refer you out. We would rather send you to the right person than keep you on our schedule.

If you are unsure whether something needs urgent attention, speak to a physician first.

Common Questions About Prenatal Chiropractic Care

Is it safe throughout pregnancy?

Care is adapted to each stage rather than being the same throughout, with positioning, support and force all changing as the pregnancy progresses. Dr. Holohan works with expectant mothers regularly. If anything about your pregnancy makes care inappropriate, we tell you and refer you back to your provider.

How is prenatal adjustment different?

Positioning is the main difference. Side-lying and supported setups keep any pressure off the abdomen, and technique leans toward lower-force options as pregnancy advances. The focus is usually the pelvis and low back, where the changing load concentrates.

Can I come in after the birth?

Yes. Many patients continue care afterwards as the body settles back and the demands of carrying and feeding an infant take over. Dr. Holohan also works with infants. Care after birth is assessed fresh rather than continuing the prenatal plan.
