Headaches

Headache Treatment

Nearly everyone has occasional headaches, but some people suffer with them chronically. Recurring headaches and migraines can severely limit quality of life. Most people who have frequent headaches are not suffering with an underlying health condition, but rather are experiencing headaches as a side effect of stress, poor sleep habits, overuse of caffeine, or even poor posture. Chiropractic treatments have been shown to help alleviate the frequency and intensity of headaches among many chronic sufferers.

Did you know...

Severe headaches and migraines can affect anyone at any age, but women between the ages of 18 and 44 are most likely to suffer with them chronically? Modern research has shown that headaches represent at least 20% of doctor visits. There are three classifications of headaches – cluster, migraine, and tension. Each can be triggered by internal or external factors, such as muscle tension, stress, strong fragrances and consumption of certain foods. A chiropractor will work with patients to help identify to a source of chronic headaches and create a plan for relief.

A Word from Dr. Bloom's Research

Doctor Blooms Headache Treatment Research

In my years of training and practice I have found many truths about chiropractic care. One is that the number of ailments, issues and disorders that can be addressed by this field of medicine is much more vast than we may currently realize.

Specifically, I have determined firsthand that there is a direct correlation between the misalignment of the neck and its structures with disorders such as frequent headaches, migraines, in addition to general neck pain. While not all issues relating to headaches and neck pain can be solved by chiropractic care, I have found that with consistent chiropractic care, my patients experience considerable relief from these issues.

This relief is the result of quality, heavily-researched and meticulously trained chiropractic care. In many cases, I have helped patients get to a point that they no longer need potentially harmful prescription medications to manage their symptoms. Others have been able to avoid the need for costly and painful surgical procedures.

In my continuing education efforts, I have spent many hours studying the extensive research that has been done on the effects of misalignment in the craniocervical junction i.e. the neck and the areas in which it connects to the spine. When misaligned, these areas have been extensively shown to impact the flow of blood and potentially even cerebrospinal fluid. This disruption can lead to various issues in the body, ranging from pain and headaches. Over the long term, this may lead to an increased risk of serious neurological disorders (Rosa, et al., 2017).

In summary, based on my experience and research, I have found that realignment of the craniocervical junction (the neck) can alleviate a range of issues, including headaches and other ailments. Properly performed and routine chiropractic care can often address these concerns in a non-invasive, non-pharmaceutical and natural way.
